nRF51822 Bluetooth Smart Beacon Kit
The nRF51822 Bluetooth Smart Beacon Kit lets you explore the full range of development options for beacons using Bluetooth Smart technology. A beacon is a non-connectable device that only sends out advertising packets. The amount of data in an advertising packet is limited, so the information provided by a beacon is only an ID with the information of interest coming from elsewhere. The beacon sends data which is received by a dedicated mobile app. The app interprets the beacon ID and fetches the correct information from a database which is displayed to the user. The kit can be used for developing beacons that follow the Apple iBeacon specification and also for developing other proprietary beacons.
